R: Dim sum was a regular weekend activity last summer, but once the cold rolled in, my visits to Chinatown slowed to a near halt. But today I endured claustrophobic Canal Street and almost being crushed by the hoards (jk, I still remember how to do the Chinatwon bob and weave) all for delicious dumplings, balls, buns, and pork and shrimp galore. Afterwards, we took a short trip to pick up some siopoa but once inside the shop, we one by one reached our tolerance for crowded, loud and hectic tiny spaces until L was the only one left to brave the other hungry, pushy customers...

In the meantime, the rest of us entertained ourselves with Asian kitsch, namely cascades of stuffed animal characters in a nearby store front.

C: M, Jf, Jf's friends T and JC from California, and I met up at Park Street to go to the Harpoon Brewery this morning. Despite the hoards of out-of-towners in the city because of the marathon, we thought we could just drop by the factory and hop in one of their $5 tours. Unfortunately, when we got there, it had already sold out for the entire day - apparently they had sold out hours before we even arrived. Call ahead next time?
