R: Tomorrow is another deadline, and I'm once again stuck late at the office trying to beat the clock. I eventually end up the only one in the office, but today everyone seemed to have pressing matters awaiting them, and I was left alone rather early as my co-workers scurried out the door by 5 p.m. Since I had been sitting at my desk all day, I decided to take a walk around the office.

In the Data Center - the main administrative office - we all sit at desks along the walls, which aren't really cubicles but are set up to mimic them. We either have our backs to each other or our desks are back to back so as not to distract us from our pressing work. Only one of my co-workers really bothers to decorate her work space with personal affects. Mostly she has photos and "ethnic" decorative items. I noticed this new item hanging on her wall.

C: We spent a couple of hours this morning exploring a bit more of Houston - mostly the museum district and then downtown. By early afternoon, we turned our backs on The Space City (unfortunately, we did not make it that far South) and headed north on I-45 for an over four-hour drive up to Dallas/Arlington. The best part of our adventure today was a quick stop in Madisonville, at Buc-ee Beaver's super-convenience store/pit stop. Not only do they have some of the best jerky I have ever tried - I highly recommend the sweet 'n spicy beef jerky - they have a whole variety of food and non-food products, from honey macadamia caramel popcorn to candied pickled jalapeƱos to Texas-shaped waffle irons to cowhide rugs and throws. Though they can be exhausting, I sure do love road trips.
