R: In my effort to be an adult, I have accumulated a hot mess. Things have literally just piled up, and now I have no idea what nasty little surprises might be hiding in all this junk.

Is it too early to start spring cleaning?

C: The sudden "heat wave" in Boston has caused me to leave the windows open all day and prop a fan up at night because the landlord apparently only believes in turning off the heat when it is 20 degrees out. Just as well, I suppose, because I just know that as soon as they do turn it off, it will drop to freezing again.

I actually do love the Springtime in Boston. Every year, usually closer to Easter, the ugly winter disappears without warning: the sun starts shining again, birds wake me with their morning chimes, and I am re-convinced that I can stay in the northeast another year. Of course, every non-Winter season is short-lived up here, and after a few months of bipolar weather during what would otherwise be Spring in any temperate climate, the humidity suddenly sets in, the air stagnates, and I am constantly soaking in sweat (not just my own, thanks to public transportation) for a solid month. Then before I know it, Fall repeats the same erratic patterns as Spring, and I am frozen for another half year.

Yes, I understand that Houston can get miserably humid and scorching hot. However, I am prepared for this, and knowing there is some degree of consistency in the weather (hello, Boston, I know you rained for 90% of my birthday month last year, but that's not the kind of reliability I want) is more than I can ask for. I told my boss, PK, and my supervisor, S, today that I would not be here past July, and they were very supportive of my decision. This year I won't be tricked. We are going to Houston!
