R: Cafe Habana is one of those tiny places in NoLita that looks like any cute little generic restaurant-in-the-wall. But the crowd fogging up its windows and streaming out the door say it's got so much more to offer - namely corn. They should call it Heaven on the Cob. It is so good, and if you've ever had Cuban/Mexican-style corn you know what I'm talking about.

Generally, crowds are effective deterrents to keep me from having a social life and even eating delicious food, but thankfully Cafe H is a decent spot for parties of two. When L invited me to dinner, I nearly leapt out of my seat for joy. I've neglected one of my favorite food places in the city too long. Give me a toothpick and napkin and I'm happy to eat corn there all night.

C: I dragged PelĂș out in the snow during lunch so I could get my photo. I wanted to go to the apex of the park behind the Roxbury Crossing Stop&Shop, the Kevin Fitzgerald Park. There is a wonderful view of downtown Boston from up there, and I envisioned snapping a perfect skyline, sheathed in snow. Unfortunately, it did not occur to me that, number 1, the path would not be plowed, and number 2, the park itself would be closed completely.

Thankfully, PelĂș quickly thought of a plan B. Across the street was the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help-it is the same church where former Sen. Kennedy's memorial service was held just a few months ago. In retrospect, it was a somewhat appropriate place to pause and take in the view (or lack thereof, honestly. it was too cloudy to see anything), considering the Massachusetts Senatorial elections happening today. I only hope that whoever wins, she (^_~) will complete the push toward health care reform.
