R: Do you see this? I mean, seriously, look at 'em! They're golden and delicious and loaded with obscene amounts of butter. Mmmmm...

I found the recipe on Mark Bittman's blog for NYTimes, and I was smitten with the bare essentials list of ingredients and the half-page of instructions. Nevermind that this was the second attempt to follow what might just be the easiest recipe on earth. Nevermind that the failure that preceded it resulted in oversalted and overfluffed scrambled eggs as well as a muffin pan full of wasted butter. The point is I don't bake and may never again, but would you just look at those adorable poofs? Simply masterful.

C: Last time we tried to go to Ihawan for Filipino food, R had us take 8790960 trains in the pouring rain before we gave up on trying to find it. This time it was freezing outside, but we made it and oh boy was it worth the cold! And what a steal! Five dishes plus three drinks for $40! Best meal ever.

After all that food, we naturally headed next door to buy more food! M and I brought back delicious longaniza, bibingka, ensymada and Filipino soup mixes to help stay warm up in Narnia (aka Boston).
