R: I don't know what my obsession is. I need to stop going to this store! However, this dress did remind me of something my mom would've worn when she was my age.

On another note, happy birthday, C!
C: I know that I'm biased, but I always thought that June was one of the best months to have a birthday - perfect weather (not too hot yet and not too cold), no school. However, no school often means that no friends are around or people are graduating, and let's not forget that everyone loves an early summer vacation or late Spring wedding. Wellesley graduation fell on my birthday in 2007, so most of my friends were too busy with their families to spend much more than half an hour with me for a birthday cocktail at MATCH. In 2008, our Lolo Peping passed away a few days before my 23rd - and while I certainly don't want to feel sorry for myself about it (I think he actually died on his wife's birthday) - having your birthday preceded by a funeral does not make for a very merry celebration. Last year, Rosama and the Honk had their wedding reprise two days before my birthday, and then the Boy graduated high school five days afterward. I just now had to think about what we actually did last year.

This year, I took a personal day, and let M treat me to lunch in Chinatown. About nine of my closest friends living in Boston (others not shown here, as we did a ZA/Swells photo) met me at American Craft, conveniently located down and across the street from my apartment. I think this was one of the first "real" birthday parties that I've celebrated with friends in the past few years.
