R: My friend L had a going away party at a bar in Murray Hill tonight. I also had a proposal due today so I didn't eat very much, and I knew that happy hour should be approached with caution. But then there was a date auction, and all precaution flew out the window.

Vodka tonic, please, easy on the tonic.

You can't tell because of my drunken photo-taking skills, but there are two guys on a flight of stairs, who are entertaining the crowd with date auction shenanigans. The guy the on the left was on the block, and he decided to sing his way into a high bid...

Just give me the whole handle of vodka already.

C: The temperature dropped from a nearly record-breaking high of 90 degrees last week to Fall-like numbers of the mid-50s today. Trying to look on the bright side of our depressing climate, we took advantage of the cold evening (low of 40 degrees!) and made some homemade chili and cornbread puddings. Per usual, M took charge of the chili, and my job was the cornbread. A sprinkle of sharp cheddar cheese, and we had one heck of a meal. Qué sabrosa!
