R: BK and I finally made it to Material for the Arts to ransack the place for materials we can use for a project with the senior participants at the Riis. It was not a good day for crafts, as MFTA depends on donations, which are better on some days than others. However, if you are a 3D artist who works with wood and other industrial materials it's an awesome place to gather supplies (did I mention it's all free?). I did see a couple of guys trying to figure out how to transport a few random sculptures amidst the building scraps. Apparently, giant shiny abstract squiggles are freebies in this city.

C: Though my Warbies arrived needing a bit of adjustment, my bad habit of putting on and taking off my glasses with one hand (that's how Clark Kent/Superman does it, you know) hasn't helped. Although this technique makes me look very young and hip, it lends to an unbalance in my frames. Within two weeks of wear, the frames were bothering my right ear enough that it was time for professional help. My optician graciously fixed my skewed Warbies for free, and even had me practice taking them on and off a couple of times using
both of my hands. While I waited for her final tweaks on my second pair, I practiced reading the card on her counter. Good news! I can comfortably read the 4 point print.
