R: On the last night of TH's show, my friend B and I were worried that we wouldn't get tickets so we decided to come to the West End Theater early just in case. Despite delayed trains and freezing rain, we managed to arrive 45 minutes before the show started and got our tickets without incident. Since we were there so early we went to a nearby pizza place to grab a drink and hang out for a bit. As we were sitting there, I noticed a book peeking out of B's pocket. It looked very familiar. I asked him what he was reading, and he pulled out The Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri, which he explained he found abandoned at a Star Bucks. He was rambling on about how he had brought it along to read on the bus but finished it before he arrived, when I - rather clumsily - pulled the same edition of the book out of my bag. Even more coincidental, I had just finished reading it on the train ride to meet him.

C: I dropped off my ring on Sunday for cleaning and was told I could pick it up in two days. After picking it up, I figured I'd walk around the rest of the Prudential to dress shop. After all, I did just get my state tax refund today. I searched virtually every store in the entire building (M and I had walked through Neiman, Saks and Barney's this weekend, so no need to revisit those...and let's be honest, my refund would barely cover anything I'd want at those places), but I could not find a dress appropriate for a wedding. I have a penchant for neutrals, namely blacks, whites, greys and the occasional nude, but with my ghostly pale ass I could hardly rationalize the purchase of even the latter two color families. In desperation to find something, I even convinced myself that $400 was a reasonable amount to drop on a "just because" purchase; I still found nothing that sparked my interest enough for me to try on. Sad.

This is why I shop on the internet.
